Gentle power of snow
We are astonished by the way the Divine expressed His love for beauty. It is not only His love for beauty that He expressed by creating these magnificent skies:”And we beautified the sky of the world.” (al_Mulk), but also by creating dancing snowflakes that, despite their softness and gentleness, seem to transform an entire landscape. These tiny flakes cover mountains and roads. They might even be an obstacle for many, stopping them from going to work or school. They might even save lives, refraining robbers and murderers from executing their evil plans.
It is a sign of strength behind beauty, power veiled by subtlety . It is a manifestation of so many Divine names: al_Musawwir, al_Wadud, al_Jameel, al_Qawiy, al_Mani’ … How privileged are we to witness how the Shaper transformed the face of Europe!
Let this remind us of the petition of the noble Prophet Muhammad: “O Allah, purify me of my mistakes with water, snow and ice.” Yes, snow reminds us of expiating sins. Snow covers and purifies and kills bacteria. So does repentance (from a spiritual point of view).
